The Result Announcement of the 12th English Radio Drama Competition

Posted by Smart Education Charitable Foundation (Aug 24, 2020)

The final result announcement of the 12th English Radio Drama Competition for Schools, organized by Smart Education Charitable Foundation and sponsored by SCOLAR, was successfully live streamed via Smart Edu Facebook Page on Aug 22, 2020.

This year, we have 3 themes which are “A Hong Kong with No Winter”, “Guardians of the Earth – The Arctic Crisis” and “The Wheel of Seasons”. The themes deal with climate impacts and environmental issues, which are all closely related to our daily life. Through this competition, students can reflect on the ecological crisis and learn the importance of adopting sustainable behaviours.

Due to the pandemic situation, the live performance of the final has to be cancelled, but thanks to the great support from principals, teachers, parents and students, the competition continues to receive very positive feedback and participation from schools. 10 teams were shortlisted as finalists and the submission of the Radio Drama performance from each finalist team was the basis of the final competition. Our judges were very impressed with each team’s excellent performance, as they all showcased their teamwork and creativity.

We are pleased to announce that the winner in the Primary Section of the English Radio Drama Competition is GT (Ellen Yeung) College (P15); and the winner in the Secondary Section is Tuen Mun Government Secondary School (S20).

We hope that all of you have enjoyed the 12th English Radio Drama Competition for Schools, and look forward to your active participation again next year. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors for their generosity.

IMPORTANT: The Latest Arrangements for the 12th English Radio Drama Final Competition

Posted by Smart Education Charitable Foundation (Aug 4, 2020)

In light of the recent situation of pandemic, the Secretary for Education announced on 10 July 2020 that all secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens could advance the beginning of their summer holiday to 13 July 2020 (Monday).

In this connection, Smart Education was strongly advised to either (i) reschedule/cancel programmes originally scheduled for 13 July to 31 August 2020; and/or (ii) change the delivery mode of the programmes to online or other means as appropriate.

We therefore write to announce the live performance of 12th English Radio Drama Final Competition, originally scheduled for Aug 22, will be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak and the government’s social distancing guidelines.

The submission of the Radio Drama performance from each finalist team will be the basis of the final competition. All the performances will be reviewed by our judging panel and the final results will be announced on Aug 22, 2020 (Sat). Our staff will contact winning schools for the delivery of the trophies and prizes, etc.

Ms. Sharon Wong, Assistant Lecturer, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
