Thank you again for your support in our 18th English Radio Drama Competition for Schools. We have just uploaded the radio drama audio files from the short-listed teams onto our website, and it's time for you to enjoy! We would also want to thank our participating teams for submitting their radio dramas, well done! You may now listen to the radio drama performances and vote for your favourite radio drama later from April 30 to May 7, 2026 (12:00 noon)! Each person can cast one vote per day for each level. The team from each level with the most number of votes will win the "Most Popular Performance" award. The Most Popular Radio Drama Performance Award will be announced on May 16, 2026, and winners will be invited to the ceremony on May 16, 2026 to receive their trophies. Stay tuned!

| 1. | Final Competition: Students should arrive no later than 09:15 to register. A briefing session will be given to all finalists from 09:30 to 10:00. The final competition will commence at 10:00. | ||||||||||||||
| 2. | Students are required to wear proper school uniform. | ||||||||||||||
| 3. | Students should also email us (Drama@MySmartABC.com) the sound effect files in mp3 format. The files will be used during their radio drama performance on May 16, 2026. (Deadline of sound effect files submission: on or before May 12, 2026 (Tue). Please make sure to indicate your school name and group number in the email. | ||||||||||||||
| 4. | All sound effect files will be copied onto a laptop provided by us during the final competition. Each team should operate the laptop and play their own sound effects during their performance. | ||||||||||||||
| 5. | Students should also bring their own equipment (if any) for other sound effects they wish to include during their performance. | ||||||||||||||
| 6. | A maximum of 5 microphones will be provided to each team during the competition. | ||||||||||||||
| 7. | Each team will have 1 minute to prepare and set up before their performance starts, and each team should finish the radio drama performance within 5 minutes (preparation time excluded). | ||||||||||||||
| 8. | Our panel of judges will evaluate each team’s radio drama performance in

| 9. | Audience is strongly advised to arrive punctually. Latecomers will only be admitted according to the instructions of the staff or at a suitable break. | ||||||||||||||
| 10. | To avoid disturbing the performance, students and audience are advised to remain muted throughout the competition. | ||||||||||||||
| 11. | Competition results rest on the final decision of the Judging Panel and organizer. entrants shall raise no objection. The decisions of the competition organizer on all aspects of this competition are final. | ||||||||||||||
| 12. | No entries, whether selected or not, will be returned. | ||||||||||||||
| 13. | Copyrights of the radio drama scripts, audio files submitted and performance during the final of this competition shall belong to Smart Education Charitable Foundation and they may be edited for publication, marketing and promotional purposes without limitations, further payment or notification. | ||||||||||||||
Awards:
There will be Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards for each section. Best Performer, Best Script Award and Most Popular Performance Award will be announced and awarded during the ceremony. Certificates will also be awarded to all the finalists.
Moreover, we would like to remind everyone that the voting period for your favourite radio drama performance will last from April 30 to May 7, 2026 (12:00 noon). The winners of each section will be invited to attend the final and receive their awards.

To further enrich students’ learning experience and promote family engagement, Smart Education organised a 30-minute Parent-Child Radio Drama Workshop on Performance Arts on 1 April 2026 (Wednesday), from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, conducted via Zoom.
The workshop was hosted by Ms. Maggie Chang, the famous emcee, DJ and producer, who guided students and parents through the fundamentals of performance arts in radio drama. Through engaging and interactive activities, participants explored voice expression, character delivery and the creative use of sound, gaining a deeper understanding of how radio drama comes to life.
Smart Education will continue to provide innovative and interactive learning opportunities, supporting students in both language development and creative expression.

To support semi-finalist students in mastering the skills of radio drama creation and performance, Smart Education organised a Workshop on Script Writing and Voice Training on 25 March 2026 (Wednesday), from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, conducted via Zoom. The session was well attended by shortlisted teams.
We were honoured to have Mr. Leonard Ma, veteran musical actor and writing teacher, as the guest speaker. During the workshop, Mr. Ma shared valuable insights into radio drama production, covering key areas such as script structure, character development, voice delivery, and emotional expression. His practical tips helped students better understand how to bring their scripts and performances to life.
We were thrilled to have around 300 enthusiastic students and teachers joining us for this creative and dynamic session. The session was lively and engaging, with students actively participating throughout. Many participants found the workshop highly useful in strengthening their confidence and enhancing their preparation for the upcoming competition.
Smart Education remains committed to providing diverse learning opportunities for students. Through professional training and enriching activities, we aim to support students in developing their language proficiency and performance skills.

Smart Education Charitable Foundation is excited to announce our Phase 1 results and the teams that can enter the next phase of the 18th English Radio Drama Competition!
This year we have a record-breaking number of teams participating and we are thrilled by the schools’ active participation in this competition! Moreover, entries from our students are of superb quality. To allow more students to gain valuable experience in the competition, we have decided to increase the number of shortlisted teams for each division!
We are honored to receive the support from principals, teachers, parents and students, and we certainly hope students can enjoy our competition. Please note that teams entering Phase 2 of our competition will need to attend our Workshop on Script Writing and Voice Training on March 25 , 2026(Primary School Division: 4:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.; Secondary School Division: 5:15p.m. - 6:15p.m.). About Our Radio Drama Competition
Would you like your students to write the play script of a radio programme, showcase their talents and perform a creative English Radio Drama LIVE in front of audience?
We are extremely proud to write to you and invite your school to participate in our 18th English Radio Drama Competition for Schools. Last year, over 500 teams participated in our Radio Drama Competition. We were overwhelmed by the positive responses from the participating schools. This year, we are extremely excited to inform you that the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) continues to sponsor our Radio Drama Competition, eight years in a row! We also had to thank all the students that participated in last year's competition!
Through this competition, your students will experience the magic of sound and the creativity of their voices. Students can learn and enjoy the fun of script-writing and acting; they can also develop team spirit, improve English language skills and build their confidence in expressing themselves in English. It will certainly be a marvelous learning experience for them.
ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER:
Students attending full-time schools in Hong Kong or Macau are eligible to enter the competition.
Students can form a team of no more than 5 members and submit a 5-minute play script of a radio drama
program with the above theme. Teams will represent their school, and each school can have more than
one team to participate. Each team can only submit one entry for the competition. Teams entering the
second phase of the competition will be asked to record their radio drama program in mp3 format and
submit to us before the deadline.

Themes and Topics
To provide students with greater opportunities to express their creativity and share their perspectives on significant issues, this year's radio drama competition includes themes such as “Chinese History and Culture”, "Personal Growth and Career Planning," "Information Technology and Social Development," "Sustainability and Life Attitude," and "Positive Values". Each theme includes a topic that allows participants to explore their creative focus.

Rules ad Regulations
- Each team shall not submit more than one script.
- Each team must consist of no more than 5 students. Members of a team must be of the same level as listed.
- Any entries with obscene, violent, malicious or discriminatory elements or involving publicity of or advocating any persons or groups and illegal and unlawful act shall be disqualified.
- Play scripts must be of original content, and materials taken from pre-existing scripts by writers who are not part of the team are prohibited. Entrants who fail to comply will be disqualified.
- Entrants will be solely responsible for the content and any violations of copyright as a result of posting it.
- Entries will not be returned to the contestants.
- The organizer has the right to use, broadcast, share or re-use all entries of the competition.
- Participation in the competition will constitute the participants' consent to the organiser's use of the participants' names, likeness, voices, opinions, photos, scripts, audio, video, performance and information for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide; or authorisation for other parties to use and edit the above materials for educational purposes or publicity, without further payment or notification.
- The organizer shall own the intellectual property rights of all entries.
- Extra certificates will not be given to any replacement members of a team.
- The decision of the adjudicators regarding the competition results shall be final. Entrants shall have no right to raise objections. The organiser reserves the right to make final decisions on all aspects of the competition.
